Crossroads

This octet is a reflection on the effects of our hectic society on the mind and the body. It is inspired by the idea that burn-out can be a pivotal point in our lives. I hope to evoke the eternally accelerating pace of our lives with motives that represent bodily reactions such as tachycardia and ever shallower breathing.

Resilience

Concerto for Oboe & Symphony Orchestra

Resilience has been crucial during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope to instill and reinforce some of this quality in those who listen to my concerto. The music undergoes some difficult moments, it sporadically has brushes with despair but it always recovers quickly and moves forward to dream, hope and fight another day.

Lost Opportunity

Trio for Flute, Violin & Piano

This music is all about the resignation and melancholy that comes with letting an opportunity slip away. In the middle part I try to convey the process of hesitation and wild imagination when weighing the different scenarios. Ultimately, the decision has been made not to follow the temptation.
