This septet for nine instruments was tailor-made to exploit the possibilities of the group below, which premiered "Einblick" in July 2018.

  • Nadia Ettinger - Violin I

  • Lucas Pyziak - violin II & piano

  • Miguel Jiménez Barranco - viola

  • Anik Schwall - cello

  • Inès Pyziak - bassoon & vibraphone

  • Aniela Stoffels - alto flute

  • Félix Turrión Eichler - English horn & vocals

The piece tells the story of an overload. The introductory build-up embodies a swelling thirst for action. Most of the time there is "a lot going on". The motif of the heartbeat extends over large parts of the composition, which, like an athlete, speeds up as the load increases. A certain madness, that is often the result of doggedness, can also be found. The motif of the increasingly shallow breaths (mostly in one of the violin parts) intensifies the reference to the human body. At a certain point, despite all the effort, things no longer work out. A kind of burn-out, which announces itself several times beforehand in various ways, suddenly cuts in. It is followed by a sluggish but emotional recovery with an open ending (accompanied by small, timid improvisations), that has no answer yet, as to how it should continue...

Repetition plays an important role, as it represents the "treadmill effect" of continuous pressure to perform. English horn instead of oboe and alto flute instead of flute contribute to an overall more melancholic character. "Einblick" neither tries to imitate a particular style nor to distinguish itself from other styles.

The dedication is addressed to Claude Lenners, who even before our very first lessons, without ever having heard one of my pieces, entrusted me with a new composition for a concert and in the following years gave me the basic means to give free rein to my creativity and even supported me when I had to stop studying with him due to the increasing workload of school.

I would like to thank everyone who made this premiere possible from the bottom of my heart - especially my wonderful family.
